The Story

I built tidytab after a 12-person dinner where I fronted the bill and spent three days sending individual Venmo requests, calculating everyone's share of tax and tip, and fielding “wait, did I have the appetizer?” messages. There had to be a better way — so I built one over a weekend. Snap the receipt, share a link, let people pay their share. No app downloads, no sign-ups for your friends.

Yes — completely free, no limits. No premium tier, no ads, no hidden fees. The core product is free forever.
Do my friends need to download an app?+
No. You share a link — they open it in any browser. No downloads, no sign-ups, no accounts.
How do payments actually work?+
tidytab calculates each person’s share, then opens their preferred payment app (Venmo, Zelle, Cash App, or PayPal) with the amount pre-filled. We never touch your money — payments go directly between you and your friends.
Is my data safe?+
We store the minimum needed to make bill splitting work: item names, amounts, and the name you enter. No passwords, no payment credentials, no tracking. Bills auto-expire after 90 days.
What if someone doesn’t pay?+
You can see who’s paid and who hasn’t in real time. If you add your email, we’ll send gentle daily reminders to anyone who hasn’t paid yet.
Can I split unevenly?+
Absolutely. Use "Pick dishes" mode to let everyone claim exactly what they ordered, or "Custom amount" for manual splits. Tax and tip are distributed proportionally.

Split with the same people regularly? Save everyone's payment info once, then just pick the group and go.
