How to Split the Cost of a Bachelorette Weekend
The bride pays nothing. Everyone else knows what they owe before they book a flight.
The Usual Rule
Usually the group covers the bride's share of the house, the activities and her meals, and each guest pays their own travel. Agree on what you're covering, then put a per-person number in the invite before anyone commits.
A Worked Example
Nine people go away: Jess, the bride, and eight friends. Lauren, the maid of honor, books the house and the activities. Say the costs come to:
The costs:
- Beach house, 2 nights$1,620.00
- Sunset boat, 2 hours$640.00
- Decorations and matching shirts$260.00
- Total: $2,520.00
What each person pays
- Split nine ways, it would be $280.00 each.
- With Jess covered: $2,520.00 ÷ 8 = $315.00 each.
- Covering the bride costs each friend $35.00.
Lauren pays her own share, and the other seven send her $2,205.00 between them.
Dinner Out
Say Saturday dinner for all nine comes to $604.80 with tax and tip. Choose “Split evenly” with “# of People (incl. you)” set to the 8 paying: $75.60 each.
For a smaller table where orders vary a lot, see splitting a birthday dinner for splitting the guest of honor's dishes by item.
How to Do It in tidytab
- Start a collection. Open tidytab and choose “Collect a fixed amount”.
- Count the friends paying. Name it “Jess's bachelorette”, enter $315.00 in “Each person pays”, and set “People (incl. you)” to 8: you included, the bride left out.
- Publish it. Add your name, email and payment methods, then choose “Publish & Share”. Add your own share when offered.
- Share the link without the bride. Post it in a group chat with the friends paying. They pay you directly, and the page shows who has paid.
